In November my daughter will be running NYC Marathon as a member of Team for Kids, a New York Road Runners Foundation's team of volunteers who are raising money to help end childhood obesity. I will be joining the cause by donating all the money from my July Etsy sales for Team for Kids. I hope you will join us in supporting this great cause. For this month I will have FREE SHIPPING as well.

This is what my daughter wrote:

"This fall I will be running the ING New York City Marathon with Team for Kids. In addition to the thrill of running my first marathon (!), I am excited to have the opportunity to play a small role in ending childhood obesity. Childhood obesity has become a source of great concern. Since 1980, the number of overweight or obese children has tripled. These young people are more likely to be obese as adults and face the resulting consequences later in life. They are also starting to be affected by the same preventable diseases from which their older counterparts suffer, something virtually unheard of before. In addition to the individual cost of obesity, there is also a societal cost. Health care expenses and productivity losses related to obesity cost Americans more than 100 billion dollars each year. Team for Kids is dedicated to raising funds to support programs that combat childhood obesity and empower youth development through running and character-building programs in low-income schools and community centers in New York City, throughout the United States, and in CapeTown, South Africa. All contributions go directly towards running-based fitness, goal-setting, and nutritional programs, which help lower the risk of obesity, heart disease, diabetes, and other serious diseases and help the kids lead healthier, more productive lives. All contributions are tax deductible and can be made via the TFK page on the ING New York City Marathon 2009 page: Please be sure to have all contributions list my ING NYC Marathon entry #411751 and last name (Kujala). Each dollar has the opportunity to make a difference for both the life of an individual and society as a whole. I hope you will share my commitment to this very important cause. Please let me know if you have any questions. Thank you in advance for your support.
