Nature Inspirations

This is my latest creation - an old tea box that I painted and filled with sweet quotes about nature. I call it Nature Inspirations. I am taking this piece to the Ecology Center fundraiser next month.
I found the quotes from http://www.inspirational-quotations.com/.

Starting something new ...

I started working on a series of butterlies made from photographs of flowers. This is my first one and it is based on a morning glory. It is probably not the final version, but I was quite excited and wanted to share it.

Day 30: The Last Day in My Mandala Challenge!

For my last mandala I decided to make another set of seven chakra mandalas, this time using just the flowers - I love it!

Seven Chakras

I decided to put together my previous seven days work. You can view each piece seperately in a bit larger format under days #22-29 in my 30 days/30 mandalas challenge.

Crown Chakra

Day 29: I cannot find a name for this sweet purple flower. Thank you flower for your color.

Throat Chakra

Day 27! This mandala is based on a blue iris. I really like it. It is hard to see all the details in this small picture unfortunately.

Third Chakra Mandala

Day 25: This third chakra mandala is based on a yellow tiger lily flower.

Second Chakra

Marigold gives color to my second (sacral) chakra mandala. It is day#24.

Day 23: Geranium - Nature Mandala 71

The next seven mandalas will be representing the seven chakras. In this mandala I am using the bright red geranium flower to create a root chakra mandala.

Day 21: Strawberry - Nature Mandala 69

This is to celebrate our plentiful strawberry crop (relatively) earlier this summer. The plants have been multiplying and growing well, but this was the first year we had several servings of the tasty berries!

Day 19: Mountain Ash - Nature Mandala 66

I was very excited to find a Mountain Ash today. It reminded me of my homeland Finland were Mountain Ash is traditionally regarded as a sacred tree. It is often planted in front of the house to protect from all sorts of evil things.

Half way in my 30 days/30 mandalas challenge!

Day 15: Clover Leaf - Nature Mandala 63.

One day I was walking down the Seventh Street in Ann Arbor, when a little clover leaf got my eye. It was under a tree and everything around it was in shade. Somehow this one leaf was lit up by a ray from the sun. I went home to get my camera, rushed back to take a picture of it before it lost its glow. Ready to shoot I realized I had left my camera battery in the charger. I went back home to get the battery, but this time I was not as lucky. The sun had moved enough to make my little leaf disappear among the other ordinary leaves. The next day I went at the same time to look for the leaf ... and there it was lit up as the day before! It was not quite as perfect a speciment as I thought it had been, but it sure made a sweet mandala. Below is the original photo for this nature mandala.

Love from Lake Michigan

I love rocks and I usually collect all the heart shaped rocks I find. This time, while visiting Lake Michigan I only took photographs of them ... no heavy loads to carry:) Below are some of them.
